Gaming Chair Sandberg Commander Unboxing and Review
Introduction :
No matter if you are an avid gamer or an online shopaholic, you want a comfortable chair. We come home tired and want to wind down at our computers. How wonderful it is if you are comfy too. I've had many chairs that were comfortable for about a week and then they started feeling "used". Months later I would go to vacuum and find screws had fallen out of my chair. Top it off with costing about $150 a pop and replacing it at least once a year. Over the course of five years, I paid right at $750 in chairs. That's a lot of money! Plus the stress of building them.
Today I am looking at a chair that boats a five year warranty. It's the Sandberg Commander Gaming Chair (Black). It's time to take a look at it and put it to the test....a week in the life of a gamer.

The chair has numerous adjustment options for both racing seat and armrests so you can set it exactly as you like: for example, you can take a break from the games, put the seat back down and have yourself a power nap! The chair is built on a solid base and can rotate 360°. Height is easily adjusted with a gas lift.
About Sandberg :
If it is important for you that accessories are high quality and easy to figure out how to use, then choose Sandberg. Our ideology "IT is for everybody" is part of everything we do. Since its inception in 1985, private consumers, institutions, and companies have benefited from this simple philosophy. Distributors and dealers appreciate the availability, range, and simple procedures and the exceptionally low failure rate. Every year over half a million Sandberg products find their way to users in more than 65 countries.
Packaging:
Plain cardboard box with drawing of the chair in black and information printed in black. It would have been nice to have had at least one real photo of the chair for those of us who want to sell this as retail but do not have the room for it out of box for display. Even a small one would have been something.
Unboxing:
The pillow for your neck is small and puffy with a strap that goes around the chair. It is also adjustable. The lumbar support is a good size and this is important because at the PC we often tend to slouch and that can cause back pain. This encourages you to get that support you need with added comfort. This is adjustable or even removable should you desire, though I can't see why you would want to.
The base where the wheels are is metal and the wheels are plastic.
Installation:
We constructed the chair and had a slight issue. The chair reclined on its own. However, we emailed Sandberg and they got us a new part shipped out same day. After this it worked perfectly and only took five minutes to replace the part.
This shows in the rare occasion that you do have a problem, they will work with you to get you back up and running ASAP. This is exceptionally good being it has a five year warranty.
Testing:
The seat is fine for most people. If you are wider at the hip, the seat may be a bit uncomfortable. This is due to the bucket seat design where the "wings" go up on each side. If you are wider at the hip it could possibly dig into your legs etc. So, be sure to check our measurements on specs vs the measurements you require before purchase to avoid disappointment.
As for height, if you are over 6'0" tall, you may find the head rest is going to be too short for you. As stated about the seat be sure to check specs and your requirements before purchase.
It has a high max load. This translates to me that this was made for a tall person or someone with width. As stated, check the specs before purchase as this is not an extra wide chair, nor is it very tall. If they should bring another out, I would suggest they make the back a bit higher. (At least accommodating someone at 6'6" tall and maybe extending the seat on the sides by 10 cm (5 cm each side). Sadly the average gamer is not known for their muscle tone.

Conclusion:
Grading this chair as it is and for what it is, I think it's a good value. If you do your homework ahead of time, I am confident you will be happy with your purchase and enjoy countless hours of gaming in a very nice chair. Put in a five year warranty to boot and there you have it, value for money. This is a great all rounder for both home and office as well as for the gamer.
