Odyssey Gaming Festival 2025: A Family-Focused Celebration of Gaming and Toys

On Saturday, 31st May 2025, I had the pleasure of attending the Odyssey Gaming Festival at its brand-new location—The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate. Spanning the weekend and also running on Sunday, 1st June, the festival welcomed visitors from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm each day. From the moment the doors opened, it was clear the event had struck a chord with fans, as enthusiastic crowds queued to get in.

This year’s festival was more than just about gaming—it was a celebration of play for all ages. Visitors could dive into retro arcade favourites, high-end PC gaming, immersive setups, and expansive free-play areas brimming with classic toys and games. The hands-on approach created a family-friendly environment where nostalgia and new experiences blended seamlessly.

The event featured a buzzing merchandise zone packed with exclusive items, from unique collectibles to themed apparel. It was the perfect place to pick up something special to remember the day or add to your collection.

A major highlight of 2025 was the expanded focus on toys for both adults and children. Attendees browsed and played with a wide range of miniature figures, action toys, and tabletop games. A particularly popular feature was the 3D scanning booth by Milestones3D, offering guests the chance to transform themselves into custom action figures.

Although there were no esports tournaments this year, the gaming area was far from quiet. A collection of high-spec PCs was set up for casual, drop-in play—inviting attendees to team up or go head-to-head in a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere.

I had the chance to chat with one of the organisers Rich, who was thrilled with the turnout. Over the course of the weekend, more than 1000 guests attended, marking a significant 40% increase from last year and reinforcing the event’s growing status within the community.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Guests praised the event’s relaxed yet energetic vibe, the wide mix of entertainment, and the friendly, inclusive environment that welcomed gamers, collectors, and families alike.

Despite the ongoing challenges of expanding an independent festival, Odyssey Gaming Festival 2025 clearly hit the mark. Rich expressed immense pride in what had been achieved and was excited about the possibilities for next year.

With its winning blend of gaming, collectibles, and family-friendly fun, the Odyssey Gaming Festival continues to evolve—and 2025 was its best chapter yet.
