🔴 Turn ANY RAM Into RGB RAM!! - For Cheap - Akasa RAM Mate - Digital Addressable RGB Memory
Introduction :
So, you went out and bought all of your components and built your rig, and it works as it should. However, there is something less than exciting about it. Oh, wait, there's no bling. You install a few ARGB fans but still, it's not rocking your world. Again, you have a really nice board, graphics card that's proper sick, fans look like a disco, ARGB Power Supply is in sync with the fans that are in sync with the mother board. Even the cooler lights up and does a show that Las Vegas would be proud of. So, what are you missing? Eureka, it's the memory. You have some really speedy memory but, well, it looks vile. It's green and the chips show. There's not a heat sink to be found on it. Oh the shame!
No need to be ashamed anymore! Today I am going to talk about a solution for just this type of quandary that I find people in quite a bit. Today we are looking at the Akasa Vegas RAM Mate. This will allow us to transform that old green memory into a chic module with ARGB lighting on it. I can't wait to give it a test run. With that being said, let's get started.

Manufacturer statement:
The Vegas RAM Mate (Product Code: AK-MX248) is an addressable RGB LED aluminium heatsink cooling vest for PC RAM. It both conveniently cools and colours, adding style and a dazzling light display to existing RAM. 8 individually addressable RGB LEDs embedded in a diffuser maximise vibrancy, injecting more personality into any build.
Two high-grade aluminium heatsinks and two thermal pads keep RAM cool and stylish, effectively reducing RAM temperature.
The Vegas RAM Mate is compatible with a wide range of PC memory including double/single sided DIMM and DDR RAM (DDR/DDR2/DDR3/DDR4), and low profile memory - VLP DIMM. The kit is easy to set up and comes with two thermal pads, a stabiliser pad, two gap filler pieces for VLP RAM and a small screwdriver.
It plugs into either 3 pin or 4 pin 5V digital addressable LED motherboard headers and is compatible with 5V ASUS Aura addressable headers, 5V Gigabyte digital pin headers, 5V MSI JRainbow headers and 5V ASRock addressable RGB LED headers.
The Vegas RAM Mate is compatible with and certified by ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion Ready and ASRock Polychrome SYNC motherboard lighting control applications. For a full motherboard compatibility list, see Akasa’s website.

Packaging:
The packaging is very attractive. I like how the Akasa logo can not just be seen but stands out with pride in the upper right corner. The picture is of superb quality and the fonts on the box grab your attention as well. In fact, this box does not just grab your attention, it demands it!
Unboxing:
Inside the box you will find:
-
Instructions
-
RAM Mate
-
Screwdriver
-
Screw
-
Spacers
-
Sticky Pads
Installation:
Unscrew the screws from the RAM Mate
Adhere the sticky pads to the inside of the RAM Mate on each piece
Place the memory module on the RAM Mate
Replace the ARGB light cover
Adhere the other panel and screw back into place
Insert into your RAM slots as per norm and plug into your ARGB header
Testing:
As DDR4 Memory runs at a low lemp anyway due to low Voltage there was little difference when the heat-sink was installed, it reduced the temp by 1'C
When overclock the memory to 1.475V from 1.2V it did reduce the temp by 2-3'C, the reduction did not make any difference in test results nor would it allow us to go any higher on the memory's Voltage before Blue screening
Pricing:
Recommended Retail Price £12.95

1 Year Return To Base Warranty
Conclusion:
I like the planning that went into this. It's easy to assemble and it does what it promises. The only things I would really change about it are: A) There is no way to daisy chain this without buying separate adaptors. It would be nice to include an adaptor for this in the kit as most mother boards do not have but one header for ARGB. B) I would like to see the package include two RAM Mates. Most of us do our memory in stacks of two to four. If you wanted to do this with four sticks you would need four kits. My suggestions is simple. Offer them in single, double and quad kits with a way to daisy chain them. You have a good product here. These are the only two things I could find that really could use addressing.
Stand out point: The module lights up as soon as you power on without extra software to install. You can adjust it with the motherboard software like you do for your other components.
Pros:
-
Nice touch including the screw driver.
-
Easy assembly
-
Looks good
-
Packaging is nice
-
Cable is a good length
-
Compatible with DIMM and VLP DIMM, DDR/DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 single and double sided RAM
-
Aluminium heat sinks
Cons:
-
Would have been nice to have had a way to daisy chain these.
-
It would have also been nice had they come two to a pack as most people do stacks of memory modules.
