Introduction :

Long gone are the days when a silver, black, or white case was acceptable for most PC users.  As soon as the option for colours and side windows hit the market, lights were everywhere.  I had a tube light in my first build.  I'm not sure why I had it, but I did.  My friends thought my blue case with the blue light and glow in the dark ribbon cable was the coolest rig in town.  Today we have so much to choose from!  We don't have to settle on standard red, blue, green etc.  We can  make our own colours, have a rainbow, the sky is the limit!  The world of computers is more about letting the user have choices and creative styles.  I'm taking a look at a most interesting designed case today, the Thermaltake View 37 ARGB Edition mid-tower.  It has the curves of a pin up.  But, I am curious about airflow and ease of build.   Will this voluptuous case make the grade or will it be just another pretty picture?  Find out all this and more on this edition of Tech For Techs

Packaging:

The View 37 ARGB Edition mid-tower chassis come in an attractive and detailed outer box.  Unlike some cases I have seen lately, they actually put some thought into the presentation of this one.  It is adorned with high definition pictures, making it stand out.  The box itself is huge.   That may be a good thing though, some manufacturers pack really tight in little boxes with just a little foam on the edges.  If the massive box is for protection, I don't mind it taking up half of my floor.

Unboxing:

On first observation, the View 37 ARGB Edition is packaged well with two custom foam package inserts.  Inside, the case is wrapped in a clear plastic bag with a manual/booklet.  *black and white print*  There is protective film on the front of the case as well as on the acrylic gull wing.  (side window)  Inside the case, in one of the hard drive bays you have two signal bridges.  One for an Asus/MSI board and the other for Gigabyte.  This will allow you to plug the ARGB fans directly into a compatible motherboard.  In another tray, you have a white box which has all of your screws, PC speaker, and cable ties.
Internal:
To get the side off of the View 37 ARGB Edition, you have to remove two thumb screws as well as a bracket that is screwed in on the back of the case.  It slides off very similar to how a normal PC side would slide off.  The panel on the View 37 looks like glass.  It has no stupid tint, or anything.  It is the most convincing, quality plastic I have seen. It looks like pure glass.  The motherboard side panel is like most other cases, screwed in with two thumb screws and has a ventilation area near the front panel.  There are two pre-installed 200mm ARGB fans and one pre-installed  ARGB fan. There are three hard drive bays *tool-less design* They will support three 3.5" hard drives in the bays plus four 3.5" drives on the hidden bays behind the motherboard.  *But I am concerned about the ventilation for the hidden drives.  There is only a fraction of the fan on the motherboard side.  Even if it can get air coming in to cool, where will the hot air go?  If the drive bays are in use, this area will be covered and so will the wholes behind the motherboard, so this leaves the cable tidy area.  I am curious to see this in testing.
USB 2.0 and audio connectors show coloured wire.  It would have been nice to have a black covering on them like they did the others.  If you are going to splash out on a case of this calibre, and price, you don't want to see messy wires.
The View 37 ARGB is made of good quality steel.  Even the plastic seems of good quality and seems to be about 3mm thick judging by looks alone.  This makes it nice and sturdy and not cheap and flimsy like on other cases.
When we first connected the View 37 to power, the first word out of Phil's mouth was "Pretty"!  However, when he went to change the colour of the fans he was met with an obstacle.  You have to get something like a screw driver to do this and that could cause you to scratch your case.  I understand they probably did this so you would not catch the button as you are using the USB ports.  But, knowing that you will need something with a soft tip *such as a stylus for instance* it would be nice if they had included it as a bonus.

Building:

This case was a joy to build with.  Only a few small things to note.  One was the rubber cable management grips fall out in the middle of building.   We noticed a blemish on the case from what appears to be a weld.  The drives behind the motherboard are not going to be adequately cooled. Last but not least, as stated before the Audio and USB header being left "undone" and exposed was a let down. The View 37 is said to be tool-less.  But  you do need a screw driver to screw the drives into place before putting them into place.  All in all though, it was very easy to build.

Conclusion:

To look at it, the View 37 is "pretty".  To build with it, it is a dream. To use in every day life, the lack of USB C on the front and the button for RGB on the front being so small that you need an infant's finger to change it, it leaves me going "oh, ok....".  Combine that with the Audio and USB 2.0 cables inside revealing multi colour wires and I am ready for an OCD breakdown.  I am not saying this case is not a nice one, it is.  I am saying, if they ever do another revision, they need to sort these things out.  One more thing, if you are going to have the option to have more drives behind the motherboard, make sure they get cooled, if not, the user is going to be very upset about them overheating.  I mean, what good is a nice case like this, if you have to leave one side off to cool the drives?  I would probably recommend it to someone that did not need to mount more than three or four drives just due to the air flow. - JG

The Thermaltake Vew 37 ARGB is a fine looking case. It has all the ARGB already installed with its own controller. It's wider than most cases, but this comes in handy. You can mount four 3.5" hard drives behind the motherboard and still have plenty of room for excess cables. It does have a few small issues, like the ARGB button on the fount being too small, but overall its a very nice case that is easy to build in.  I would not have a problem recommending the case to a gamer. Next to a lot of the other cases out there it does make your head turn with the large ARGB fans and the Gull wing side/top window.- PG

Stand out point:  ARGB connector built in!

Pros:

  • When I read the material sent to me about the product (specs etc), just the way it was laid out and presented told me they were proud of their product and passionate about what they do.

  • The vendor also is very easy to work with.

  • Will support vertical Graphics card

  • Room for a large radiators

  • Comes with ARGB controller built in

  • Good ventilation in main part of case

Cons:

  • No USB C on the front.

  • USB 2.0 + audio headers have multi-colour cables

  • slight blemish on metal top beam

  • ARGB button too small

  • not completely tool-less

  • rubber cable management grips fall off in building

  • drives behind the motherboard towards the back will not get enough air, ventilation poor

  • No PSU shroud

They got a Gold for the View 37 ARGB
